Washington -- The Pentagon supports legislation to prevent members of the armed services from being preyed upon by "unscrupulous" auto dealers.

In a letter obtained by The Detroit News today, Clifford L. Stanley, the Defense Department's undersecretary for personnel and readiness, supported efforts to create a Consumer Financial Protection Agency that could oversee automobile sales and financing...
