A crowd-stopping, 520-horsepower Lamborghini sports car used by the Italian police to chase crooks at high speed has been written off after tangling with a more dangerous foe – a careless driver looking the wrong way.
The Lamborghini Gallardo, one of two donated by the manufacturer to help keep Italian roads safe, was cruising near Cremona at the weekend when a car pulled out suddenly from a petrol station, forcing the highly trained police driver to swerve into parked cars, Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper reported.
