If you own a 2008, 2009, or 2010 Nissan or Infiniti and live in a state where it snows regularly, keep reading. Nissan is recalling 143,223 2008-2010 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles to replace a nut in the Tire Pressure Monitoring System that could corrode and fail.
The issue at hand is the nuts used to secure the sensor-transmitters to the vehicle's wheels as part of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The nuts in question are made of the wrong material and may corrode and crack when driven through areas with high concentrations of salt on the roads. If the nut fails, the air pressure will rapidly leak out of the tire and set off the TPMS warning light on the dash. If the driver ignores the TPMS light for too long, the tire will go flat and could increase the chance of a crash.
