Cadillac CTS V Series Challenge Results: BMW M3 Beats Lutz in CTS-V

It's official. The results of the Cadillac CTS-V Series Challenge with "Maximum" Bob Lutz are in!  First things first: Lutz in his Cadillac didn't have the fastest time of the day, at all. But he laid down some very respectable numbers, and beat a bunch of other cars. His best lap of the day was a 2:56:321. Other younger more experienced race drivers driving identical CTS-V's readily annihilated that time however, with GM's John Heinricy coming in nearly 10 full seconds quicker with a top lap of 2:46:560 in his CTS-V.

But the big question remains: is there a car (it is a "May the Best Car Win Challenge" after all) that beat the CTS-V's time (with Lutz driving)??? Three words: Yes, BMW M3. Indeed. BMW fanboys and girls will now be jumping up and down with even more joy and bursting BMW pride (just wait untill BMW Blog goes off once they get wind of the news) to the point of annoyance. We pretty much guarantee you'll be hearing "But the M3 beats the *** out of everything on the road bro" for a long, long time on the forums. But somewhat rightly so -- The M3 beat Lutz's big mouth fair and square and ran a best lap of 2:50:424... It didn't, however, win against other drivers in the CTS-V, namely John Heinricy that was about 4 full seconds faster than the Bimmer

What did Lutz have to say after all this? He took the defeat like a gent and stated, "I haven’t done this in 30 years... Young whipper-snappers showed me a thing or two. Let’s see them do this when they’re 77."

We can live with that. Good race Bob!

Here is the list of best times per car and driver from the Cadillac CTS-V Challenge courtesy of TTAC (Yes, their driver, Jack Baruth, beat Lutz as well).
