ANAHEIM, Calif. – (September, 2009) Futuristic concept cars will take center stage at the OC Auto Show, Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 18, at the Anaheim Convention Center.
From a car featured in the blockbuster movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen™ to vehicles showcasing the latest in hybrid and electric vehicle technology, consumers will see striking designs that offer a glimpse into the future of automotive design.
“Concepts are a great way to gauge public reaction to styling and technology before implementing them into production,” said OC Auto Show Co-Director John Sackrison. “Several concept cars are designed right here in Orange County and the OC Auto Show takes pride in bringing these special vehicles in for our showgoers to enjoy.”
Concept vehicles scheduled to be on display at the auto show include the Cadillac Converj, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Hyundai Nuvis and more. (Vehicles subject to change.)
The Cadillac Converj concept car is truly “the Cadillac of electric vehicles,” with its blend efficiency and environmental consciousness. This four-passenger luxury coupe uses GM’s electric propulsion technology, enabling up to 40 miles of gas-and emissions-free electric driving with extended-range capability of hundreds of miles. Featuring bold design inside and out, the Converj has an all-glass roof with solar panels to offset power drain from the vehicle’s accessories, cameras in place of mirrors and a headliner made from silk.
In robot mode as one of the car stars of the hit movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen™, the Corvette Stingray Concept takes the form of Sideswipe, a skater with wheels for feet. On display at the OC Auto Show, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray concept rolls off of the silver screen and will wow crowds with styling that plays homage to the 1959 Corvette Stingray racecar and the 1963 Corvette Stingray Split-Window Coupe. This special vehicle incorporates retro styling cues with those from the modern Corvette for a car that is truly a showstopper.
Designed in Hyundai's California Design Center in Irvine, the Hyundai Nuvis Concept combines a “tech meets eco” theme. Featuring a hybrid drivetrain and large gull-wing doors, Hyundai’s design team studied the way water splits across and flows around the hull and sides of a boat to form the illusion of constant motion. Using 100% recycled materials inside; the luxurious 4-seat cabin has a cascading floor, ambient blue lighting and console touch screens. This unique concept vehicle may also offer a peek at the styling for Santa Fe's replacement.
