Possible Car Fire causes Toyota to recall Lexus GS, IS, LS Models

Toyota is recalling about 215,000 Lexus models for a potential corrosion problem that could cause a fire.

The recall affects these models and model years:

• LEXUS / GS 2006-2007
• LEXUS / IS 2006-2008
• LEXUS / LS 2007-2008

The recalled models are equipped with aluminum fuel delivery pipes, commonly called fuel rails. Ethanol fuels with a low moisture content will corrode the internal surface of the rails, possibly causing fuel leakage, which is a fire hazard.

On June 15, 2009, our 2002 Lexus ES caught fire while we were driving. We were fortunate to get out before the car completely burned. The next day I read of another Lexus that burned and some passerbys had to break the window to save the driver trapped inside.
I would appreciate any news about this problem and how to notify the appropriate authorities about this obvious manufacturing fault. thank you

I was driving my 2002 Lexus LX470 and while coming from Maryland it cought fire and was total loss, I don't know what cases fire but we informed Lexus to investigate in to it and reimburse/replace my vehicle as i am confident it is a manufacturer fault as Lexus offer after sale customer satisfaction. in my personel oppinion I think Lexus has problem in 2002 model.
