After weeks of teasers, the 2010 Ford Mustang finally made its debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show. The redesigned pony had cameras flashing left and right and a crowd gathered around like hobos around a pit fire in a cold winter night. It's no wonder why it is America's Favorite Pony.
The Mustang is competition to the 2010 Chevy Camaro and 2009 Dodge Challenger. This year Ford decided that the pony needed a newer look and feel, hence the redesign mustang. The official pictures were released a day earlier at the convention center, but it was only at the show where people could look and gaze at the legendary pony.
The front grill was one of the changes that took place. The 2008 Mustang has a bulkier grill and front fascia, while the 2010 version has slimmed down a bit. Its grill is slick, thinner, but still keeps the legendary image alive. The hood also got slimmer and toned down from its bulky size. I personally was fine with the original look but have no complaints about the new look either.
The sides of the Mustang didn't really have any touch ups. The look remains slick and simple like the previous generation.
As we move to the back of the car, a redesigned back was seen and I was not impressed very much. The original lights of the Mustang have always been fully squared and the spoiler on the trunk was separate from the actual trunk. That changed as the spoiler itself is now part of the trunk. Though I have no problem with the redesign, the new model has lights that seem to wrap around the edges and go from big to small as it extends to the side. The lights seem to be stretched too far as if plastic surgery had gone wrong.
The interior was a nice touch being that it also got redesigned. The dashboard was retouched with added rectangular air conditioning vents as oppose to circular ones like the original. The steering wheel also received more features and now a SYNC-system is available. I think the interior stayed classy and very formal for a muscle car.
Overall the 2010 Ford Mustang is one great muscle car that maintains it legendary status at a high level. Pricing starts at $30,000 for the GT model. The 2010 Ford Mustang will be available to the public in, you guessed it, 2010.
